Explanation

Between nouns, と lists them exhaustively: パンと たまご “bread and eggs”. After a person, it means “(together) with”: ともだちと 見ました “I watched it with a friend”. と only joins nouns: never two sentences.

Examples

I bought bread and eggs.

I watched a movie with a friend.
