Structure

Explanation

To say something exists somewhere, use [place]に [thing]が あります for inanimate things (books, buildings) and います for people and animals: つくえの 上に 本が あります “there is a book on the desk”; こうえんに 子どもが います “there are children in the park”. The negative forms are ありません / いません.
