Explanation
The て form + しまう shows the action is complete, often beyond repair: わすれてしまいました “I (regrettably) forgot”. With neutral verbs it just means “finished entirely”: ぜんぶ 食べてしまいました “I ate it all up”. Casual speech contracts it to 〜ちゃう／〜じゃう.
